Can Anybody Hear Me?
You’re a proper business owner now. When you first started your business, you were dipping your toes into the waters of entrepreneurship. You still had your corporate job to pay the bills. (It took me 5 years to go full-time with Sarah Wills Photography!) Now you’ve come to the realisation that you can’t go back. Working for yourself, working on your passion and working with clients you love is what you want to do. You’ve got to make it a success.
You’ve got to get found, build relationships and convert clients with your online presence. No more shouting into the digital marketing void. We’re making waves and getting booked!
So you’re doing all the ‘proper’ business owner things like:
- Sorting out your website design and copy
- Following strategies for posting on social media instead of posting whatever first comes to mind (usually a photo of the cat)
- Saying yes to things you were too nervous to do before like collaborating on events
But you face the same hurdle every single time…
Showing your face. On your website. On social media. On an event banner. Everyone is telling you that you need professional photos.
“Do I really have to?”
You’re not alone if the idea of taking personal branding photos scares the living daylights out of you. As part of Dove’s ongoing Self-Esteem Project, they found that 77% of women are camera shy. That was back in 2013. With the continued rise of super-edited photos which we see on a daily basis, it’s no surprise you’re hesitant to step in front of the camera.
Here’s the thing. It’s not my job to make you look like an Instagram model. It’s my job to capture you just as you are. The best brand photos consist of relaxed poses in on-brand locations with natural editing. Not only does that make photoshoots more comfortable for you and the photos more true to you, increasing the likelihood you’ll actually share the images but it’s what your future clients are looking for because…

YOU Are Your Biggest Selling Point
Don’t get me wrong, you offer an amazing product that achieves transformational results for your clients. I don’t know what you do (yet!) Still, I’m 99% sure I don’t do it as half as well as you. But your clients are also attracted to your personality, perspective and experience. It’s what makes you unique. In the world of digital marketing, particularly solopreneurship, personal brands and brand photos sell.
- Posts with images have 650% higher engagement.
- People tend to remember 10% of what they read. But if people read content paired with photos, they can retain 65% of what they read.
- Articles with images get 94% more views than those without.
- 86% of shoppers prefer an authentic and honest brand personality on social media.
- 77% of consumers are more likely to buy when the CEO of the business uses social media.
It’s undeniable, photos build traction and your audience wants to know who you are. Yes what you look like, it’s helpful to put a face to a name. They also want to know your essence, ethos, values, vibe, whatever you want to call it. That’s what you portray in personal branding photos. They’re not professional photos of you in a suit you never wear in an office you hired for the morning. They’re professional photos that communicate your personal brand so your clients take notice, connect with and want to work with you because they believe in YOU.
If you’ve been struggling to stand out online, shake up your marketing with…

Professional Business Photos That Are True To YOU
My Personal Brand Photography service for Small Business Owners gets you comfortable with stepping in front of the camera and produces professional photos that build traction because they are uniquely and beautifully you.
Step #1 Find Our Focus
When you reach out to work with me, I’ll send you an initial questionnaire and book a call with you. This gives you a chance to get to know me so you don’t feel like you’re being photographed by a complete stranger. It also allows me to get to know you and what you want from the photoshoot.
Maybe you’re getting your website sorted. Maybe you’re going through a rebrand. Maybe you’re working on your social media presence. Maybe all three! Whatever it is, I need to know what kind of brand photos to take so you end up with a personal branding photo gallery that you actually use and get results from.
Step #2 Plan the Photoshoot
With the focus set, I can get planning. I’ll research and come up with a set of locations for the shoot around Clapham or another area in London, create a Pinterest board for inspiration which you can edit and add to, and share guidance on how it works and what to wear. Before we go any further, we get on a follow-up call to confirm everything.
Step #3 Say Cheese
I’m kidding, I won’t ask you to say cheese during the photoshoot. That’s the best way to get really awkward photos. We’ll meet up at the first location, grab a coffee and have a chat before getting into the shoot. There’s no rush to switch between poses like a robot or run between locations like we’re in the London Marathon. (I save marathons for my downtime!) The photoshoot progresses at your own pace.
Step #4 The Big Reveal
After the photoshoot, I’ll share the photos we took and you’ll pick your favourites for me to edit in a natural style that aligns with your brand. Then I’ll share the brand photo gallery with you and send you off into the world to get visible with professional business photos you love!

What Happens When You Post Professional Business Photos?

Compliments!
From friends and family to perfect strangers, be prepared to receive fire emojis under your posts.
Confidence
Fire emojis or not, you’ll have a greater sense of confidence when showing up online. You have professional photos that you like the way you look in, represent the personal brand you’re building and present you as the ‘proper’ business owner you are.
Visibility
You’ll build momentum with your visibility, generously handing out business cards and making a point to direct people to your website at networking events, posting on social media like it’s going out of style, and no longer feeling afraid of the question “Can you send me a photo of you?”
Growth
As a result, your business can flourish. You’re putting yourself out there like never before so your ideal client will find it easier to discover your business. Then they’ll feel motivated to keep interacting with you because they can see and connect with the person behind the business through your brand photos. Due to the relationship you have built when they’re ready, they’ll reach out to you about working together because they see you as the go-to in what you do and someone they will get on well with.
I reached out to Sarah for help with some professional photos for my acupuncture business and had such a wonderful experience working with her. From start to finish, the entire process was an absolute delight. Sarah really helped me to feel confident and at ease in front of the camera and was so warm and friendly in her approach. She took the time to get to know me and my business ethos and really listened to what I was envisioning for the shoot. I couldn’t be happier with the final photos and would love to work with Sarah again in the future.

Just Between You and Me…
I didn’t like promoting my business either, even though I really, really wanted to be my own boss.
It didn’t take long of working in corporate to realise I didn’t like working for other people. I wanted to start my own business or be self-employed somehow. The problem was I didn’t have a business idea or a skill I was passionate about to go it alone to pursue.
It wasn’t until my wonderful husband gifted me a camera for my birthday that I found my thing. (Yes all this is his fault!) I worked on perfecting my craft so I could go pro. When I did take the leap of officially starting Sarah Wills Photography, I realised there was another craft I needed to perfect – visibility. How was I going to get in front of my dream clients and impress them enough that they wanted to work with me?
Sharing brand photos was my starting point. It sets the tone of my website and every social media post. People instantly get who I am and what I’m all about so the words I use to sell my service are more likely to resonate with the right people. The professional photos of me are like a warm-up for my message. They capture attention and intrigue the right people.
I’ll Grab the Coffee. You Bring the Tube Map.
(Do people still use Tube Maps? I guess they’re good to have if your phone battery dies…)
Growing a business is never going to be easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy, especially when it’s just you and the cat in the business. I get to work with clients that truly inspire me and I can’t quite believe chose me to be their photographer. I also still get days when I don’t want to show my face. I want to hide under the duvet and hope clients will find me without lifting a finger. But confidence isn’t linear and that’s okay.
On those days I know I’m putting my best face on for clients because I have professional photos I love, my audience loves and that sends the right message to the people I’m trying to reach. When I’m putting together an Instagram post, I feel good looking at the photo of myself. Good enough to be visible consistently, knowing when I show up for my audience, they show up for me.
Sarah is absolutely Fantastic. She is professional, attentive and very quick at delivering the photos ready to be used. Her brand photography service is perfect for those like me who need great pictures to capture my business’s essence. I can only highly recommend her!
