I recently did a quick Q&A session with one of my portrait clients. As you may know I love photographing portraits and this particular client wanted some photographs to incorporate his motorbiking hobby. I always spend time discussing what we want to achieve from the shoot, and what look we are going for. For this particular shoot we wanted to channel Steve McQueen and a timeless biker look.
Q: Why did you decide to book a portrait session?
A: I am a biker and wanted some professional photographs to reflect my hobby. There is a such a big difference between professional shots and a friend with an iphone and I think you can see this reflected in the results.
Q:What look did you want to achieve?
A: I have always been a big fan of the classic, timeless biker look, I have the Belstaff Brookland’s jacket which dates back to the 1920’s and is the one worn by Steve McQueen. I wanted the photographs to reflect this timeless look.
Q: Which is your favourite photo and why?
A: I really love the black and white one below. Sarah did a great job choosing the location which gives the photos a nice urban look. The composition is great and the black and white gives it the classic feel that I wanted.
Q: How did you feel during the shoot?
A: Sarah spent time discussing my ideas with me in advance to understand what I wanted to achieve. She also really put me at ease during the shoot, explaining the process and directing me so that I felt comfortable and relaxed.
And here are some of the final photos:
